Instead, I’d get to see 30 minutes of Saga’s investigation, which has an entirely distinct tone from the original game. Alan Wake himself will be playable in the game as well, but Remedy is currently staying mum about what his gameplay looks like in the Dark Place. She’s an FBI agent who gets sent to Bright Falls to investigate a cult, sending her deep into the woods with her partner. The gameplay segment I saw at Summer Game Fest was based entirely around Saga, a new character in the sequel. Though that’s not to say the sequel has lost any of its weirdness. ![]() And it does that while modernizing the original’s horror formula, making it feel more in line with Capcom’s current wave of Resident Evil remakes. From what I’ve seen so far, the sequel seems to be more True Detective than Twin Peaks, looking at the weird world of Bright Falls through the lens of a dramatic procedural this time. If you're in the mood for something that's going to put you through hell emotionally (in the best way possible) while being impossible to put down, I urge you to give Alan Wake a try.If you’re expecting the same oddball, camp-horror vibe that made Alan Wake a cult hit, you might be surprised by what Alan Wake 2 has in store. ![]() Alan Wake is a writer of horror/mystery novels, who goes on a vacation to get over a bad case of writer's block, only to find himself trapped in the midst of one of his stories. I only played the Xbox version myself a few weeks ago, and I can assure you it's a great game, especially in terms of the gripping story. After that, they'll only be a part of the collector's edition, which will run you $34.99, rather than the $29.99 for the basic edition. If that doesn't convince you, they're offering the two DLCs released after the original Alan Wake on the 360, entitled The Writer and The Signal, for free until February 23rd. ![]() The new addition has added high-resolution graphics and enhanced PC features. The digital download is more than just the same release on a new platform. Today, Remedy Entertainment has released their cult classic Xbox 360 hit Alan Wake on Steam, just in time for interested players to get a good background for Alan Wake's American Nightmare, which releases for the Xbox Live Arcade next week. ![]()
